Blackboard Help

View the live site

Produced on contract with Friendly Design, the Blackboard Help site is designed to help frustrated users to quickly and easily find answers to their questions.

Responsively designed, the site looks its best regardless of device or browser size. Users are able to quickly locate solutions to their problems just as easily on their phone and tablet as on their computer.

A complicated beast providing documentation for numerous products, the Blackboard Help site required an intensive information architecture and user experience phase which preceeded visual design.

Random Nerds

View the live site

Blogs are a dime a dozen. As the new kid on the block, Random Nerds needed a website that set them apart while simultaneously offering an extremely simple and streamlined user experience.

Produced with Friendly Design, the Random Nerds site provides users with a whimsical yet elegant reading experience that focuses on providing authors the tools they need to present their story in the best manner possible.

The Random Nerds brand reflects the company's ethos. In some way, everyone is a bit of a nerd. This isn't something to be ashamed of; being a nerd should be a point of pride. Thus their logo acts as a signature, a mark of ownership and confidence on everything they post.

Interactive Design & Front-End Development

Hello! My name is Ian Hamilton and I build things on the Internet. For more than a decade I have designed, built and maintained extremely usable and beautiful online presences for dozens of local, national and international clients.

I create simple, clean, precisely designed websites and mobile experiences that communicate clearly with target audiences. I code things the right way, testing to ensure your product looks just as good on a phone or tablet as it does on a desktop computer.

When I developed my first website back in 2001 I fell in love with pixels and code. Classically trained in the arts, I pair my technical know-how with a visually pleasing aesthetic that will help you, your organization or your project put its best foot forward.
